As a complex site with a number of design and logistical challenges to overcome throughout the design and build process, it was clear from the outset that careful and considered programme management was key to the success of this development.
Not only was the site directly over the Victoria Tube Line, but it was also immediately adjacent to the Blackhorse Lane Tube station / railway line. Additionally, the site formally stood as a petrol station where much of the infrastructure associated with this was still within the ground. All of these components required a significant amount of statutory authority / Network rail approval. From a design point of view, the entire structure had to be considerate of the weight limitations dictated by the above factors. A complex piling sequence, lightweight steel frame / brick slip system had to be carefully coordinated within a tight programme.
